I received a very insightful handout from my supervisor today regarding College of Charleston Social Media Sponsorship. The handout gives a general overview of the athletic communications department goals and objectives and goes on to give detailed information regarding CofC's social media platforms.

I figured this information would be of interest to me seeing as I am officially a contributor to our communications department social media platforms...I was right.

The overview states: "College of Charleston's social media presence is one of the strongest in the Colonial Athletic Association and has been utilized by regional and national media outlets to share the accomplishments of our programs and student athletes."

The pamphlet explains that social media is the "true location for fans and followers" of College athletics to engage and share information. These social media platforms gives the College's audience a voice and allows people to engage personally with CofC's sports programs. Most importantly, by providing captivating images and interesting video content (*cough cough) the athletic programs can spread its message much further and faster.

Our athletic department primarily utilized Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat to reach audience members. According to the handout, these platforms have the ability to spread further in one day than our website could in one month.

Through my opportunity to create video content for the CofC athletic communications team, the voice is mine and therefore so is the power to create some hype!
