Today marks the beginning of my semester-long independent study.
I will not lie on a blog post, so here's the truth: social media can sometimes bother me. Did you see that Instagram post of that one girl drinking her favorite Starbuck's coffee? That's why.
However, as a young communication professional in my fourth year studying media, I would fail all of my courses if I denied the undoubtedly monumental influence social media can have on an audience, And I would like to graduate in the spring...so I'm delving in to explore.
I believe in the power of media. If a picture is worth a thousand words then a moving image is worth a million. As a self-proclaimed photographer and videographer, I have always been facinated by the ability my productions have to put a smile on a face or move someone to feel something.
I am taking it upon myself to get as much as I can from this independent study, through analyzing work I stumble across, and then attempting to integrate successful concepts into my own content (produced for the College of Charleston Athletic Communications Department). I am excited to see what's out there and to improve upon my ability to communicate effectively and hopefully inspire the world.
So that's why I'm here.
